About Matona

Love for our loved ones and nature - this is what drives us, the Matona team around founders Katharina and David, every day and defines our fashion label. As a small family business based in Vorarlberg, Austria, we have been producing timeless, minimalist fashion for the whole family since 2016 - clothes that are stylish, modern, sustainable and fair.

Our Work

"Step by step to a better future" is the guiding principle behind Matona, and it runs like a red thread through the entire production process. The choice of materials is the first step. Matona uses only high-quality organic fabrics such as linen and cotton, as well as recycled sheep's wool and Tencel. As demand increased, production was moved from the home sewing table to to partners in Europe. All collections are made in small factories that are certified to social and environmental guidelines. This means fair wages, regular working hours and gender equality. Cooperation with long-term partners, regular on-site production checks and short transport routes are the cornerstones of production.

02

Social Responsibility

Next to our own designs, our manufacturers are the most important part of our business and the quality of each garment. For this reason, a close, personal relationship with our manufacturers is particularly important to us. We currently have a carefully selected network of small, family-run manufacturers in Europe that we visit regularly.

Our Story

It all started with Katharina sewing her son's clothes. It quickly grew into something bigger, and after the first orders from shops, with over 100 pieces, production finally moved to small factories in Europe. They also learned from their children what makes good clothes. From a simple T-shirt to a playful dress or jumpsuit, Matona's long-lasting pieces are comfortable, suitable for playing and running around, and grow with the children. The women's collection was created with the same idea in mind. Clothes for real women that flatter different body shapes and can also be worn during pregnancy, breastfeeding and after.
